EasyMocap Log + Instructions

This week I filmed my own unique footage and the required calibration footage for EasyMocap. For materials, I used my cellphone, the GoPro Hero 9, and a paper print of a chessboard for calibration. To calibrate the extrinsic footage I had to set a chessboard pattern on the floor in view of both cameras and record a short clip. Then, for the intrinsic calibration footage I had to record a clip of moving the board around in front of each camera separately. Although, I had a few problems in my first attempt. My first problem was that my cellphone camera had flipped the footage which meant the calibration was confused on where the camera was. Moreover, the detection of the actor in the shot wasn’t working properly due to EasyMocap tending to distort the images so in one piece of footage the chessboard got distorted. I discovered that the distortion of my footage is due to poor intrinsic calibration, by not moving the chessboard to the edges of the camera's view. Additionally, I noticed that the 3d model was too small to match up with my actor's movements. So, I had to manually go into the extrinsic and intrinsic yml files and lower the T1, T2, etc data numbers.

Attached is a pdf with instructions on calibration and running EasyMocap in the terminal:
